Over more than twenty five years working across capability, operations, technology and workforce performance, I kept seeing the same pattern. Organisations invested heavily in developing people after they joined, while some of the most consequential decisions were still being made with loosely defined roles, inconsistent evaluation and too much instinct.
RoleLens grew from that observation.
It is a hiring decision intelligence platform designed to bring organisational context, role clarity, structured evaluation and evidence into the decisions that happen before someone joins.
Organisations have become very good at managing hiring activity. Applicant tracking systems organise candidates. Sourcing platforms expand reach. Assessments generate signals. Interview tools improve coordination.
Yet the underlying decision can still begin with an inadequately defined role and end with different interviewers applying different interpretations of what “good” looks like.
The problem is not simply whether a candidate can answer an interview question well. It is whether the organisation has translated its business context, role expectations and required capabilities into a sufficiently clear basis for evaluating that candidate.
When that foundation is weak, subjectivity enters early and compounds through the hiring process.
RoleLens is designed to sit between sourcing and onboarding, where some of the most important judgement calls in hiring are made. It does not replace an ATS, an assessment platform or the interviewer. It gives those decisions a clearer foundation.
The idea is straightforward: understand the role in its organisational context, define what success actually requires, structure how candidates are evaluated, and make the eventual decision easier to explain and defend.
Business priorities, operating environment and the reason the role exists shape what the organisation should actually be hiring for.
Define what success requires, what matters most and which gaps or behaviours should raise concern.
Structured interview rubrics and evidence-based evaluation reduce the room for inconsistent interpretation and unsupported instinct.
What is learned during evaluation can inform role readiness and the first ninety days rather than disappearing once the offer is accepted.
The consequences of a senior or critical hire extend well beyond Talent Acquisition. They affect business performance, team capability, leadership confidence, onboarding effort and ultimately the organisation’s ability to execute.
RoleLens is therefore being designed for the people who have a real stake in the quality of that decision.
For leaders responsible for making hiring more consistent, defensible and aligned with what the organisation actually needs.
For leaders who ultimately live with the consequences of the hire and need greater confidence that evaluation reflects the realities of the role.
For teams that inherit the development consequences of hiring decisions and can benefit when role and candidate intelligence carries forward into readiness.
RoleLens is now in active development as a B2B enterprise platform, with the first version being built around a simple principle: hiring decisions should become more contextual, structured and evidence-led without removing the judgement of the people responsible for making them.
The current focus is on building the product well, validating it with experienced enterprise leaders and creating the foundations required for organisations to trust it with consequential hiring decisions.
It is early. Deliberately so. The ambition is not to add another tool to the hiring stack, but to improve the quality of the decision that the stack ultimately exists to support.
